PANHANDLE PLAINS INVITATIONAL Art Show and Sale

February 4 – March 4, 2007

The PPI provides the only museum-quality venue for contemporary Western art in the Panhandle Plains region. This annual event will have paintings and sculpture by some 50 artists depicting the American West. Proceeds from sales will benefit the museum’s art department.

6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

An evening of fine wine, fine art, and fine food. For the sophisticated wine connoisseur and the novice alike. The event will feature a seated Private Reserve Tasting and a Vintners Tasting Party with hors d’oeuvres. The Private Reserve Tasting (limited to 40 guests) from 6:00 to 8:00 pm will feature a selection of gourmet foods with sophisticated wines served in the museum’s Southwest Art Gallery, a special guest speaker, and a signed, artist-painted wine glass. Downstairs, in the Derrick Room, the Vintners Tasting Party from 7:00-9:00 pm will feature luxurious hors d’oeuvres with wine pairings from around the world. In addition, all participants will enjoy live music, and a fabulous silent auction, featuring original art by Greg Skol, two vacation packages, handpainted wine glasses and other unique items.

Cost: $150 per person – Private Reserve Tasting
$60 per person – Vintners Tasting Party

FATHER/SON DAY

Fathers and their sons can spend some time together at the museum and learn the craft of leather braiding. For reservations call Millie Vanover at 806-651-2249. There will be a small fee for craft materials.


WOMEN ON THE CATTLE TRAILS

Get to know the amazing women of the frontier through the stories told by the contributors to the book Texas Women on the Cattle Trails, edited by Sara Massey. Jean Stuntz, Fran Vick, Bruce Shackelford, Joyce Roach and Sara Massey join us for a symposium to share the lives of Cornelia Adair, Molly Goodnight, Bette Mathews Reynolds, Minta Holmsley, Lizzie Johnson and other women on horseback. A fitting way to celebrate Women’s History Month.

Book signing to follow. Luncheon included.
