PPHM SUMMER INSTITUTE – “PHOTOGRAPHER’S SAFARI”
June 7 – 10, 2008
Look at Texas from a whole new angle through the lens of your own camera. Noted photographer and Amarillo College professor Ken Pirtle and Curator of Art Michael Grauer will guide you on a photographer’s safari, exploring how the city came to the Texas plains.
The safari costs $300 per person for members, $400 for nonmembers, or $375 which includes a one-year family membership.
Cost includes all classes, admission to the Colt exhibit, transportation to on-site locations, photo lab use, 3 lunches, snacks and water daily. Accommodations, other transportation and meals, supplies and equipment not included. Participants are required to supply their own digital cameras and accessories, including batteries.

The Griffin collection, one of the museum’s largest and most important art collections, helped PPHM become a major destination for Southwest art lovers. Important Taos paintings in Griffin's collection included Brett's Horses in Snow, Couse's The Quiver Maker, du Tant's Cutting Ice on Brooks Lake (Cutting Ice on Taos Pueblo Lake), Fechin's Alexandra, Sharp's Cocoanut Blossoms and Wood Roses (Symphony in Yellow), and Young-Hunter's The Blue Door.
