PABLO DIAZ (ca. 1818-?) was born in Monclova, Mexico and moved to San Antonio with his brother Francisco in early 1835. Diaz did not fight on either side during the Texas Revolution because, he said, “Having been born in Mexico it was not my right to take up arms against my native land, but as I was living in this country [Texas] it was not right for me to fight against it.” Diaz was not in the Alamo during the battle but vividly recalled it when he was in his 80s.
