A 17,000 volume library collection focuses on the history of the Panhandle-Plains, Texas, the Southwest and the American-Western experience. Special emphasis has been placed on Archeology, Art and Material Culture.

Numerous area newspapers are on microfilm. Other holdings include microfiche from the Winterthur Collection, an extensive listing of material culture items. The microfilm records of Spanish conquistador Francisco Vazquez de Coronado’s 1540/42 expedition across the Panhandle and Southwest are also available.

Many government documents are included in the archives including Texas panhandle county records from the late 1890s to the 1940s, legislative papers, and some state records.

The library also subscribes to 137 periodicals specific to subjects in the museum’s collection.

Services & Fees
As a full service archives, the Research Center collects, preserves and makes accessible the documentary history of the Panhandle-Plains region.
