An extensive photograph collection allows the researcher to visually step back in time with scenes of cowboys around the campfire, wide vistas of the LS Ranch headquarters, bustling streets of the oil boom town of Borger, or long rows of combines harvesting wheat.
The history of various Indian tribes of the South Plains, including the Comanche, Kiowa, Kiowa-Apache (Plains Apache) and Cheyenne is documented in the Center's collection, with current identification from present-day tribal leaders.
Windmillers, such as Burdick and Burdick Company of El Paso, Texas, brought the precious commodity of water to the surface in a semi-arid region. The development of windmills and irrigation pumps and the impact of the "new" technologies are documented in the photograph collection.
