Use of the Research Center is free of charge for members of the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum and Society, West Texas A&M University students, faculty, and staff.
Non-members are charged $5.00 for a one-day research pass, payable at the Admissions Desk.
Research Services
Request in person, by phone, mail, or E-mail are:
- Ten minutes search time gratis
- First full hour $20.00 after gratis time
- Subsequent hours $15.00
- Photocopies 30¢ per page
- Faxes 50¢ per page
- Applicable postage fees
Most research requests are completed within three weeks; large or complicated projects may take longer.
Photographic Reproduction
single images are:
- 35mm slide $8.00
- 3x5 $15.00
- 4x5 $15.00
- 5x7 $25.00
- 8x10 $30.00
- 11x14 $75.00
Most requests are completed within two weeks; large or complicated orders may take longer.
Negatives
A fee of $18.00 is charged when no negative exists and one must be made to produce a copy print. All copy negatives are retained by the Research Center. Most requests are completed within two weeks; large or complicated orders may take longer.
Scanned Images, Audio and Video Transfers
The Research Center provides scanned images and audio and video transfers on appropriate and available media. Digitally watermarked images are normally scanned at 72 dpi resolution. Scanning fees are $25.00 for the first image; additional scans are $5.00 each. Compact discs, DVDs, diskettes are $10.00. Reproduction policies and use fees apply to scanned images.
Usage
The Research Center grants permission for one-time, non-exclusive use of photo-duplicated materials for publication, exhibit, film/video production, graphic arts, or other display purposes, providing the proposed use is specified and the image is suitably presented.
NON-COMMERCIAL
- $15.00 per image for 1-50 images
- $10.00 per image for more than 50 images
COMMERCIAL
- $100.00 per image for 1-9 images
- $50.00 per image for 10-50 images
- $30.00 per image for more than 50 images
Credit Line Requirements
The following credit line must appear along side the reproduction:
Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, Canyon, Texas
If the publication uses five or more images, the credit line may appear at the end. Failure to credit the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum will result in denial of future access.
Additional Guidelines
Duplication charges and use fees do not constitute sale of the image, and all existing rights to materials on file are retained by PPHM Research Center.
Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum is not responsible for any illegal or improper use of its materials, including infringement of copyright laws.
Copies of materials obtained from PPHM Research Center may not be deposited or placed on file in any other repository without written permission. Furthermore, reproduced materials are not for resale.
Researchers are allowed to photograph hard-copy newspapers, Sanborn maps, and secondary source materials using their own cameras. Not other materials may be photographed by researchers. Copy stands are not allowed without prior approval.
Images may not be altered without written permission.
Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum reserves the right to deny a further reproduction right to any individual or organization that does not follow PPHM Research Center reproduction policies.
