Annessa Stagner, Ph.D., WT Alum. Currently Dean of Academic Services at Lamar Community College in Lamar, Colorado. Her dissertation is entitled Defining the Soldier’s Wounds: U.S. Shell Shock in Perspective. She will be addressing shell shock, how it manifested, how it was treated, and any new research she has discovered. She began her research on the topic of shell shock at WT as a McNair Scholar and a member of our Honors Program.
Kristin Kuhlmann, R.N., Ph.D. Director of Nursing in the Department of Health and Human Services at Eastern New Mexico University. She is a former faculty member in the Department of Nursing here at WT. She will be addressing the flu epidemic of 1918, how wounded soldiers were treated in general, some of the medications available, and related topics.
Lynn Jennings, Ph.D., LPCS (Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor), therapist in private practice in Amarillo for 13 years focusing on trauma, trauma-related issues, and PTSD. She will be addressing changes in the treatment of PTSD from the early 20th-century and the World War I era to the present.
