Art for Everyone is designed to bring art out and make it accessible to everyone, including the visually impaired. PPHM is one of the first museums in the United States to pioneer this level of inclusivity in its exhibits. The first one is a 3-D, interactive sculptural relief of
Red Landscape, a painting by former Canyon resident Georgia O’Keeffe. As visitors touch the relief, sensors detect their hands and speakers explain aspects of the painting in English and Spanish. The result is a tactile, visual, and auditory experience like no other. All signage will additionally be presented in braille, and the exhibit will be fully wheelchair-accessible. It is our mission to make sure that all people have access to PPHM and its vast collection.
The exhibit was made possible in large part due to a generous contribution from Nancy and Robert Josserand of Hereford, longtime patrons of the arts and culture in the Texas Panhandle. Art for Everyone was built by 3DPhotoworks with the assistance of Dr. Amy Von Lintel, Associate Professor of Art History at WTAMU.
