Texas Panhandle Pioneer Christmas

How did early pioneers celebrate Christmas? By mid-1800s, Christmas traditions encompassed many of the same festivities and customs as it does today. But, for the pioneers in the desolate Panhandle of Texas, Christmas was a much simpler affair.

Using a PowerPoint presentation, early Panhandle Christmas will be discussed. Samples of early Christmas presents will be shown and discussed. After the presentation, students will create a "Pioneer Christmas Decoration." All supplies will be provided by PPHM.

Cost is $40 per program. Maximum audience size is 45 students. A transportation fee of .35 cents per mile will be charged outisde of Amarillo and Canyon ISD.
