Volunteers

We offer volunteer positions throughout the museum and for almost every interest and personality type—whether you’re comfortable hosting tours or would prefer to help us out behind the scenes. PPHM uses volunteers for the following positions (not all positions are available year-round). If you’d like to dedicate your time to a specific collection, definitely let us know.

Research Center
Unleash your inner archivist! Research Center volunteers help us catalog archives, label materials, enter data and sort through inventory.

Special Projects
Party animals wanted. The bulk of this work requires hosting and greeting at lectures, exhibit openings and other public functions. Our special projects volunteers also help with exhibit installations, research, proofreading and brainstorming.

Archaeology
Dig in! Assist our archaeology personnel as they organize departmental files, catalog archives and enter data for bone analysis.

Communications
Are you a people-person? Communications volunteers do everything from greeting adult tour groups to delivering posters throughout Amarillo and Canyon for upcoming events.

Art
We won’t give you a paintbrush, but we will rely on you to help us install art and lighting for temporary exhibitions, catalog our collection and even perform artist research.

Education
Much of our mission involves education, which means education volunteers stay busy year-round guiding children’s tour groups, performing outreach programs and, during the summer months, participating in Camp Tatanka.

We need you! Please fill out the form below, and the volunteer coordinator will contact you soon.
