Amarillo National Bank (ANB) and the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum are partnering to bring historical and cultural exhibitions to downtown Amarillo. Specially selected items from PPHM are on display beginning August 10th in the Historic Federal Building at 620 South Tyler in Amarillo.
Built in 1914-1916 to house the U.S. Post Office and the federal court, the building was purchased by Amarillo National Bank in 2013. At the time of purchase, Richard Ware, chairman and president of ANB, said, “We think it’s the best-looking building in Amarillo. And, by tying it into our other office buildings, we think we’ve got some real unique opportunities there.”
Currently the exhibition “Cattle, Cowboys & Culture: Kansas City and Amarillo, Building an Urban West,” sneak preview is open. This preview will run from August 10- August 26, 2017. The Historic Federal Building and the PPHM exhibition area
are open from 8 am until 5 pm Monday through Friday. There is no admission charge.
