The entry of the United States into the European conflict in 1917 coincided with the rise of photography as a medium available to the public at large. The introduction of simple and affordable box cameras put them in the hands of amateur photographers of all walks of life. This exhibition will select images from the museum’s collections that resulted from the photography boom. These images document the wartime activities of Panhandle residents from a variety of perspectives, both public and private, as they responded to the call to arms
