Books and Periodicals

The 15,000 volume library includes works of regional history, biographies and memoirs, and scholarly works on all aspects of the plains life. The collection has also been enriched by the personal libraries of many Panhandle residents. Particular strengths of the library collection include:
  • Archeology of Panhandle and Southwestern cultures
  • Native American studies
  • Local histories
  • History of the American West
  • Southwestern art
  • American material culture
Current periodicals, including scholarly journals, trade publications, and general interest magazines present the latest research on a range of topics. Newspapers from communities large and small provide a detailed chronicle of local events.
Access to the collection is available through an in-house catalog.
